Sennheiser Headphones for Modern Home Entertainment

January 4th, 2012  / Author: DonaB

Headphone technology has advanced to impressive levels in recent years and many common complaints that plagued past products are long gone. There was a time when wireless technology was a bit precarious and unpredictable. You were never quite sure if you would get a device that would actually be compatible with devices you already owned. Even worse was the possibility of frequency interference or a weak signal that came with the transmitter. Some people would have to sit in specific places just in order to receive a workable signal that allowed them to hear sound. Sennheiser was one of the pioneers in revolutionary technology that has made the entire home audio seem a lot more exciting. Their products work in any type of entertainment or gaming environment to give you top value and wonderful performance.

The great thing about Sennheiser headphones is they’re designed for rookies and veterans alike with a multitude of options to keep everyone happy. If you are new to headphone technology, you don’t have to get too complicated with the setup and configuration of their devices. You can even go with a plug-and-play approach right out-of-the-box if you’re eager to get down to the action. And if you happen to consider yourself a technophile, then you can fine-tune various features to give you the best in overall performance. This type of variety is what takes brands like Sony and Sennheiser to a whole new level.

They are sleek and attractive while adding true value to your current configuration and blending perfectly with the visuals. If you happen to own a big screen TV, a good set of Sennheiser wireless headphones will give you a home theater experience like no other.

There are products in all price ranges when it comes to the Sennheiser line of wireless headphones. You will most likely be able to find a product within your category quite easily, even if you’re looking for a great gaming headset. For higher-priced models you are generally paying for better sound quality in addition to more features for a better listening experience. But even if you can only afford their entry-level product, you’ll be more than happy with Sennheiser quality made by a brand that understands their customers well.

No more chilly fingers

December 17th, 2011  / Author: Darcy

As you may have guessed, I love my iPhone. But around this time of year there is one thing that I could really do without – chilly fingers.

The touch screen on all iPhone models is capacitive, meaning it will not work if I touch it with my gloved fingers. To use the Internet or send a text, I remove my gloves and expose my hands to the cold. But when I get a call, I can’t get my gloves off fast enough so I have to do the embarrassing answer-the-phone-with-the-tip-of-my-nose trick. Believe me, that is not a good look.

Winter iPhone Use

So this week I have been researching what my options are so that I can keep the frost bite at bay, but still use my beloved phone.

Here’s what I narrowed it down to:

1. A capacitive stylus – looks like a pen, operates the touch screen like my finger.

For me, the best iPhone stylus is the Boxwave mini as it has a little plug for the jack so I can attach the stylus to the iPhone and never lose it.

2. Mittens – Just like Nanna used to knit. You can buy mittens that have detachable tips, so when you need to use the phone, you can fold back the tops to reveal my fingertips. Quick and easy, but still exposes your fingertips to the cold.

3. Touch Screen gloves – The Holy Grail of cold-phobic iPhone lovers – the Aglove. These look and feel like regular glove, but contain a conductive material, making them effective for all capacitive touch screens.

Check out this rather extensive and enthusiastic review from a guy dressed as Boba Fett:

I’m off to buy myself a pair of Agloves and hope they don’t get caught up with all the Christmas shipping – I need them, like yesterday.

The Perfect iPhone Workout Headphones

December 5th, 2011  / Author: Alejandra

If you recently purchased an iPhone and brought it to the gym to supply some tunes during your workout, you probably noticed how horrible the standard white plastic headphones that come standard with the iPhone or iPod are.  The good news is there are two pairs of workout headphones that are perfect for you to replace them with.

Klipsch Image S5i Rugged Headphones

The Good

Rugged is an understatement when it comes to the Klipsch Image S5i  Workout Headphones.  These are some of the most durable headphones available and Klipsch did a great job of creating a large in-line control that functions well with the iPhone.

The Bad

Klipsch utilizes a patented oval earbud that some people have not been happy with in terms of fit.

The Bottom Line

These are one of the top two workout headphones for the iPhone, period.

Bose MIE2i Mobile Headset

The Good

The sound quality from the Bose MIE2i unmatched.  The new StayHear technology which utilizes ear fins to keep the headphones in place is also pretty unique and unbelievably comfortable.

The Bad

While the ear fins are great they also take a little bit of time to get used to.

The Bottom Line

While the Klipsch Image S5i are a great pair of headphones for your iPhone, they take a backseat to the Bose MIE2i in terms of function while being active, sound quality, and comfort.  These are the best on the market.

Halloween Eyeball Props

September 15th, 2011  / Author: Melisa

Of our hearing and seeing senses, our eyes are so much more sensitive and vulnerable than our ears. So it’s no surprise that we cringe every time we see a bloody eyeball Halloween prop. While we know in our mind that they are just harmless decorations for Halloween, our minds picture our eyes on that pavement.

I know that when I watch an episode of Criminal Minds or CSI and the killer is an eye guy, I spend a lot of time with my own eyes closed!

So if you want a ghoulish and zombie playground of carnage and body parts don’t forget to include the bloody eyeball props. I throw these around with bloody hands, feet, heads, hearts and other zombie carnage.

You can get these great six-feet tall zombies to hang from trees. I buy at least six so it looks like an army of zombies has attacked the front yard. Then I put a few animated corpses on the ground and scatter that with all of my body parts. I keep them in clear Halloween storage containers in the garage. I have shelves where I put my holiday decorations by holiday. My Halloween shelf does get quite look from people when they at first don’t realize what they’re looking at.

Candy Cane Figurines

September 10th, 2011  / Author: N Niblett

Red and green are traditional Christmas colors and come November our homes, offices and yes the mall are covered in it. But red and white candy cane stripes are right behind when it comes to popularity. A candy cane figurine can indeed by a giant candy cane with red and white stripes that will make your mouth water. But you’ll also see a lot of favorite characters either decorated in red and white stripes or holding a red and white candy cane.

My favorite figurine is a teddy bear holding a figurine. You’ll see lots of them every Christmas. I have several that I use to decorate my fireplace mantle. I love the sweet innocence of the teddy bears and the way that the red and white candy cane looks agains their fur.

But it’s not all teddy bears. One year I found this great western figurine where the gunslinger had candy cane guns in his holster. I had to buy it. I don’t even have western decor in my home (well I guess I do now!) but I thought it was just the cutest idea.

Adorable Christmas mice with candy canes are another traditional theme that I also love to include in my Christmas decor. They’re perfect when it comes to decorating the bedrooms for visiting grandchildren.

BBQ Largemouth Bass Recipe

July 19th, 2011  / Author: DonaB

You know how it is with southern food – we’ll barbecue just about anything, including this               largemouth bass recipe. By “barbecue,” I don’t mean just grilled. I mean slathering on a rich barbecue sauce, along with grilling. This largemouth bass recipe is barbecued, much like you’d barbecue chicken, ribs, or pork chops. If you think this sounds rather strange, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. It’s delicious, and it’s a great way to try something different with fish fillets. Largemouth bass is popular in the South, but if you don’t have any largemouth bass, try using another type of fish that’s lean and mild.

BBQ Largemouth Bass Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Largemouth bass fillets
  • Olive oil
  • Paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic salt
  • 1 cup bottled BBQ sauce
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

Directions: Rinse bass fillets and pat dry with paper towels. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with paprika, black pepper, and garlic salt.

In a small bowl, combine barbecue sauce, lemon juice, and vinegar.

Place bass fillets on a clean, oiled grill and cook over medium heat until flesh is white and flaky. Brush both sides of fish fillets with the barbecue sauce and sear both sides of the fillets over medium-high heat.
